En vacances

This is my first blog post in a month. I had intended it to be a proper post, with words and all that. However, I can’t be arsed. I’m enjoying a rather unexpected holiday. When I awoke this morning I felt trapped, hopeless and very depressed. After a few hours that all changed. They say a picture says a thousand words; I’ll let the picture speak for itself.

Jellyfish

My brother and family visited us today and, as the weather took a turn for the better, we all went out for a walk down to the beach.

It’s not unusual to see the odd jellyfish, but there was quite a large number high up on the beach and as we approached the water line it got to the stage where there wasn’t anywhere you could step without standing on one.

Some were tiny, perhaps only an inch or two across. Just clear blobs of jelly. There were hundreds of these. Others were six to eight inches across, while a few were quite large, like the one in the photograph. It was at least twelve inches (30cm) across, if not bigger.

We ended up having to leave the beach because my three year old nephew was getting a bit freaked out by them all, and I must admit that I was taken aback by their sheer numbers. It was almost like an invasion.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Spring

This isn’t really a recent photograph, but one I took whilst on holiday on the west coast (Scotland) in 2009. Perhaps it’s cheating to use an old pic, but I wouldn’t normally post pictures of flowers, so it gives me a good excuse to use it.

The location was Arduaine Garden in Argyll, a property run by the National Trust for Scotland. Technically it wasn’t spring, either; it was actually late February, but the signs were there.

If I had been on the ball I’d have gone out to take some pictures today. The weather was favourable and the sun shone for most of the day. After the winter we’ve just had, I’m glad to see a bit of sunshine. The days are beginning to stretch out too, which tends to make me a happier bunny.

I’ve got a couple of catch up posts to do due to my recent “holiday”, so if conditions are right tomorrow I’ll try and get out and about to snap some more.

Words escape me

So, here is another pic from the archives. Maybe I should have just decided to post pictures instead of actually writing a daily blog post. I’ve got enough to last for several years. Ach, hindsight is a wonderful thing, though. It’s another animal pic, I’m afraid, although they’re not mine. These are the two beasts I’ll be looking after for the next week or so.

I’m not one for believing in re-incarnation, but bugger it, if it was so, I’d like to think I’d come back to a life similar to that lived by these two cretins.
